Ginger, how to peel
May 13, 2016
With the price of herbs & spices ever increasing, you can't afford to waste anything. This technique for peeling fresh ginger is really easy & will just remove the skin, while leaving the precious ginger intact.
Directions
1 Cut a piece of ginger off the main piece, about the size of what you need for your recipe.
2 If needed, cut off any dried up parts from ends.
3 Hold the ginger in one hand & using the edge of a spoon, scrape the skin off in strips.
4 How easy was that?! Now you're ready to slice, chop up or grate the piece of ginger... or whatever your recipe calls for.
This is exactly how my son peels ginger – I will show him he’s not the only one! He usually peels a bunch, then freezes it to use in his recipes (he’s a good cook!)
He’s smart! I do mine backwards lol… I freeze it skin on & then cut off & peel what I need. After he peels it, does he put it in a plastic bag or just freezes it as is?
