Ahhh-mazing Fall Home Scent
November 11, 2017
This all natural recipe will have your home smelling like all the comforting scents of the Fall season with very little effort. Once it starts simmering it takes several hours for it to waft through your whole house, but once it does... it smells so great! You can make this either in a small crock-pot or on your stove top.
Directions
1 Ingredients.
2 Peel the orange & cut the apple into 8 wedges.
3 Add water to a 2 quart crock-pot. Stir in vanilla & all the spices. Stir in the orange peel & apple wedges. Set crock-pot to high & cover.
4 After 1 hour lower heat to low & simmer for a few hours.
5 Give it a stir, leave it partially covered & enjoy the scent! (see Tips# 1 thru 4)
Tips & Suggestions
1 Give it a stir every now & again to release more scent.
2 This should last a week or 2, so unplug the crock-pot overnight & keep it covered.
3 Everyday; add a little more water as needed & heat on low partially covered, stirring as needed.
4 You can also make this in a 2 quart saucepan on your stove top. Bring the water to a boil. Lower heat to warm. Stir in all the ingredients, simmer partially covered & enjoy!
What a great idea to get the wonderful scent without the chemicals in the store bought potpourri liquids. I can’t wait to have this going during the fall. I can picture it now, sitting in front of the fireplace with a cup of coffee taking in the scents. Thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome Jazzy, hope you enjoy it all thru the holiday season!
Absolutely perfect for the upcoming holiday season! My Gran used to do the orange peels and cloves, I adore the addition of fresh apples, vanilla, and extra spices. Will be enjoying this soon 🙂
Cool Angela… hope you love it once you try it!
I love this idea. These ingredients make me think of Christmas, Christmas markets and mulled wine! In fact, mulled wine here in Italy and in Germany has practically the same combination of spices and citrus! So I’d be tempted to add some wine and drink it! 🙂
Wow what a very interesting idea Jacqui !!! 🙂
Cloves are one of my most favorite scents ever. I can already smell this recipe (in my head). Can’t wait to make it this fall.
I love the smell of cloves too! Hope you give this a try & it’s a great way not to throw away peels & such 🙂
This must smell like heaven!!! So happy to see you using cloves, not that many people know what spice that is…Can’t wait to try this for fall:))
It does Sonila! I have several recipes that I use cloves in & they are sooo pleasantly aromatic!
Very creative idea! I’ve never tried this before, but I always love how my home smells after cooking or baking.
Thanks Patrice! I love the way things smell too after cooking & baking 🙂
Fall is around the corner!! Going to give this a try.
Oh good Martita, I hope you enjoy it! 🙂
